Israel’s war on Lebanon: 28 days of bloody escalation

Israeli occupation forces continued their bloody war on Lebanon for the 28th consecutive day on Sunday, launching new airstrikes on the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut and southern towns, amid ongoing attempts to advance on the ground met with fierce resistance from Hezbollah.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the number of martyrs from the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon has risen to 2,448, in addition to 11,471 injured, since October 8, 2023, up to yesterday (Saturday), according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

In a brief statement, the ministry reported that 36 martyrs and 204 injuries were recorded during Thursday and Friday due to the Israeli airstrikes.

On Sunday, Israeli occupation aircraft carried out a series of airstrikes targeting areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The occupation army issued a warning to evacuate several buildings in the Haret Hreik and Hadath areas in the southern suburb.

Israeli aircraft also struck a number of cities and towns in southern and eastern Lebanon, as well as the southern suburbs of Beirut on Saturday.

Lebanese sources reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted the towns of Aita al-Chaab, Dhahiya, Adaisseh, Shahabiya, Sidiqin, Qabraykhah, Rashnaniyah, Bafliyeh, Dabb’al, Tayr Harfa, Sarifa, and Jbaa in southern Lebanon.

Media sources indicated that Israeli airstrikes targeted the towns of Khyam, Ramiah, and Barashit in southern Lebanon in the morning, while the occupation’s artillery shelled the town of Kfar Shuba.

Israeli airstrikes also targeted the towns of Ansar, Bouday, Nabi Sheet, Khadr, Sarin, and the city of Baalbek in the Bekaa region of eastern Lebanon, and an Israeli drone struck the town of Chtoura in the Bekaa.

In response, Hezbollah continued its operations against Israeli occupation forces and settlements, confirming direct hits on its targets and inflicting casualties on the Israeli army.

Islamic resistance fighters struck the Kiryat Shmona settlement with a rocket barrage at 5:00 AM on Sunday, October 20, 2024. They also targeted the Rosh Pinna settlement southeast of Safed at 12:05 AM with a rocket barrage, and the city of Safed itself at the same time.

The Israeli occupation army announced the death of a reserve officer with the rank of major due to serious injuries sustained in battles in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah executed 25 attacks on Israeli targets, including 17 attacks targeting gatherings of Israeli soldiers.

The occupation army announced yesterday (Saturday) that “Sergeant First Class Netanel, aged 38, died from wounds sustained in battles in southern Lebanon on October 9.”

It noted that the deceased officer served as “a section leader in Battalion 5030, part of the 228th Alon Brigade.”

Thus, the number of military casualties in the Israeli army since October 7, 2023, has risen to 748, with 4,969 others injured, including 744 seriously, in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and southern Lebanon, according to official data. Other sources confirm that the numbers are much higher, and the occupation is deliberately concealing a significant part of its losses.

On another note, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted 17 gatherings of Israeli soldiers with rockets and artillery, in addition to launching other attacks on settlements, cities, and military targets in northern Israel, the most notable being a military base east of Haifa, bringing the total number of its attacks to 25 by the end of Saturday.
