Hamas, Jihad condemn German FM remarks, saying they encourage Israel to commit more crimes

The Hamas Movement condemned, in the strongest terms, the German Foreign Minister’s Tuesday statements declaring that her government “is not ashamed of (Israel) targeting civilians and hospitals, as long as it provides security for Israel. This is part of our obligations.”

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Hamas Movement condemned, in the strongest terms, the German Foreign Minister’s Tuesday statements declaring that her government “is not ashamed of (Israel) targeting civilians and hospitals, as long as it provides security for Israel. This is part of our obligations.”

In a statement on Wednesday, Hamas said, “It is shameful that the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Charlotte Alma Baerbock, continues to enable and give cover to the Genocide committed by the Zionist occupation against our people in the Gaza Strip in a blatant bias against international humanitarian law.”

Hamas held the German government fully responsible for the dangerous consequences of this statement, and its political, legal, moral and human repercussions.

It called on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to take the minister’s remarks as additional evidence of her government’s complicity in the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, and asked the ICJ to withdraw its rejection of the lawsuit filed by Nicaragua against Germany, on charges of violating the 1948 genocide prevention convention through providing Israel with weapons that it used in its ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip since October last year.

Hamas called for taking immediate emergency measures to force Germany to stop its arms exports to Israel.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine strongly condemned Baerbock’s statements, in which she claimed that the Israel has the right to kill civilians in Gaza for its security.

The Islamic Jihad said in a statement on Wednesday, “these statements represent a serious justification for targeting civil sites, covering up Israeli crimes against civilians, and providing an unethical justification for random attacks that claim the lives of thousands and destroy infrastructure including schools, hospitals and citizens’ homes”.
