AhlulBayt News Agency: Two international organizations stressed the urgent need to end violence against children in the Gaza Strip, noting that there is no “safe place for children in Gaza.”
Commenting on the Israeli aggression on the tents of the displaced Palestinian citizens in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza, The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said, “Our screens are once again filled with images of children being killed and burned and families trying to escape from tents being bombed.”
In a post on X, the UN body stressed on Tuesday the need to “stop the horrifying violence” against children and called on the world to put an “immediate” end to the situation in Gaza.
In the same context, Save the Children said the Gaza Strip is being subjected to a war of genocide, and attacking children and families every day “looks like the depths of hell. Nowhere is safe.”
Middle East Regional Director for Save the Children, Jeremy Stoner, said residents of northern Gaza have been deprived of food for two weeks, noting that “In the north, an already starving population has been cut off from food for two weeks while trying to dodge bombs and bullets in a kill zone they cannot leave.”
“What military goals could justify such mass-scale slaughter of civilians? The notion of collateral damage must never be used to excuse the predictable killing of children,” he added.
Stoner noted that “Save the Children has begun a second round of polio vaccines for children in the Deir Al-Balah clinic, as children face bombs and fire just 500m away.”
“Never has it been clearer that this is a war on children, their protection only upheld if they’re deemed a risk to those beyond their borders. Without a ceasefire, these vaccinations simply postpone rather than prevent children’s pain,” he added.
On early Monday morning, four Palestinians were killed and about 40 others were injured in an Israeli bombardment that targeted the displaced tents in the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, which led to a large fire that burned down about 30 tents.
