AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The head of the Dabar-Bosnia Orthodox Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina said the church is keen to hold interfaith dialogue with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Hrizostom Jević made the remark during a visit to the church by Iran’s Ambassador to Bosnia Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman and Cultural Attaché Mohammad Hossein Ansari.
Warmly welcoming the Iranian delegation, he said the church is ready to develop religious ties with Iran, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) reported.
Referring to the history of the church, Hrizostom Jević said the orthodox church in Bosnia dates back to 1291.
He noted that there are more than 1,500 orthodox churches in the southeast European country.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he expressed sympathy with the people of Palestine and Lebanon, who have been facing the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression, and prayed for establishment of peace all over the world.
During the visit, Ebrahimi Torkaman highlighted the peaceful coexistence of followers of different faiths, including Orthodox and Armenian Christians, in Iran.
He also said Iran has the positive experience of organizing interfaith dialogues with different faiths, including the Orthodox churches of Russia and Greece.
