AhlulBayt News Agency: The present developments in West Asia depict a bitter picture, a picture that cannot be ignored by the international community. The intensification of the Israeli violations and aggression that are driven by the dangerous expansionist policies of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have brought the region closer to massive instability, violence, and possibly a global conflict.

What has started as a limited military action by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip after a year is a large-scale campaign of air operations in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and even Iran.

Modern Diplomacy website, in a report describing the security situation in the region as dire said that the consequences of the war can extend beyond the borders of West Asia. The report mentions the destabilizing actions of the Israeli regime in the region, as well as ways to prevent the spread of tensions.

Uncontrolled Israeli violations

The report suggests that the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, which is condemned by many rights organizations as a genocide, is the latest chapter in the long history of Israeli occupation's military actions against the Palestinians.

After a year of this war, entire neighborhoods in Gaza have been razed to the ground, hospitals and schools have been bombed, and thousands of civilians, many of whom women and children, have been killed or displaced. The scale of devastation and human suffering in Gaza is beyond human comprehension, but international condemnation has been mild at best.

It seems that Netanyahu's government has become more insolent due to the lack of international community's response to its crimes and has expanded its military operations to Lebanon, justifying these aggressions under the pretext of defending "national security".

In Syria, Israeli warplanes continue to target key infrastructure and military positions, further destabilizing the war-torn country, which has suffered heavy damages from a decade of civil conflict caused by foreign-backed terrorism.

Israel's attacks on Yemen, although carried out on a smaller scale, contribute to a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. The Israeli regime's covert operations against Iran, including the assassination of nuclear scientists and sabotage, are pushing the region towards an all-out confrontation.

A dangerous expansionist agenda

It seems that Netanyahu's policies are driven by a radical vision of territorial expansion, a vision that evokes memories of the Western colonial ambitions of the past centuries.

The actions of Netanyahu's government indicate a deliberate strategy aimed not only at weakening neighboring Arab countries but also at occupying large areas of their territory. Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt and Yemen are now Israel's priorities, and it is not without reason to imagine that other countries such as Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and even Afghanistan can be Israel's future targets.

This aggressive mode is deeply concerning because it risks a much larger and uncontrollable firefight. Israel's military superiority is not in question, but no country, however strong, can pursue rampant expansion without provoking a violent response. Netanyahu's pugnacious policies have created a keg powder that threatens not only the region, but the entire world.

Failure of international community

The United Nations as an assumed protector of the global peace has once again failed to act resolutely in dealing with the Palestinian dispute. The anti-Israeli UN resolutions are constantly vetoed by Western powers that have interests in preserving the strategic position of Tel Aviv in the region.

This inaction is not only a failure of diplomacy, but a failure of humanity. The international community's failure to hold Israel accountable for its actions is regarded by many as a tacit endorsement that emboldens Tel Aviv's leaders to continue their brutal aggression.

Israel's aggressions are not isolated incidents, but part of a wider pattern of expanding military action that threatens regional stability and world peace. If the international community does not intervene immediately, the situation could escalate into a full-scale conflict, one that could lead to a third world war with the potential to involve major powers. All the signs of an all-out war are there, too, with "escalating military conflicts, strengthening regional alliances and rising tensions between global superpowers."

A potential global conflict

The broader consequences of the Israeli aggression go far beyond West Asia. Countries like Iran and Turkey are unlikely to sit on their hands while Israel continues to destabilize the region. Their response, whether through direct military action or increased support for allied local groups, could create a regional war involving multiple countries. Iran, in particular, has an extensive network of allies and paramilitary groups across West Asia, and an open conflict with Israel could quickly escalate into a multinational war.

Beyond the region, there is a serious danger of superpower confrontation. Russia has significant military interests in Syria and China also has strategic economic relations throughout the region, giving them reasons to react as Israeli steps up its aggressive military actions.

As a longtime ally of Tel Aviv , Washington may find itself between a rock and a hard place and try to heighten its support for the regime, arguing that the growing instability in the region will exacerbate the level of tension.

Call for international action

There is still time for prevention of this dangerous scenario, but the window is closing fast. The international community needs to recognize the intensity of the situation and take immediate steps to put the brakes on the Israeli expansionism and aggression.

Despite its recent failures, the UN remains a vital platform for dialogue aimed at settling the conflict. This body should take measures to immediately stop the conflicts, press ahead the peace talks and implement sanctions against Israel if its military campaign continues.

In addition, such regional countries as Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt that have so far shown incredible self-restraint must step up their efforts to check Israeli hostilities.

Diplomatic efforts must be stepped up to broker a ceasefire and bring all parties to the negotiating table. The focus should be on working out a lasting peace, not just managing the conflict. A coordinated international response, led by the UN and supported by major powers, is the only way to prevent further bloodshed and steer clear of a catastrophic war.

A dangerous future ahead

The future of the West Asia rests on balance. The Israeli actions in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and beyond are not only aggressive, but also dangerously expansionist, posing a risk of developing into a regional and even international conflict. Failure to stop Israel's aggressive policies will not only perpetuate the suffering of millions, but also could lead to a conflict with consequences far beyond West Asian borders.

This is a matter of global security and the world cannot simply turn a blind eye. Tel Aviv should be held accountable for its aggressive actions and the international community should take action to ensure peace before it is too late. Eruption of a third world war is a big danger whose misery the world cannot bear.
