AhlulBayt News Agency: The former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on Sunday that the Al-Aqsa Flood that took place on October 7 of last year has led to the “collapse of the Israeli narrative and renewed the nation’s awareness.”

Mahathir delivered a speech at the opening of the 7th Kuala Lumpur Conference for Thought and Civilization, in Istanbul, entitled “Palestine: The Linchpin of Civilization Renaissance,” a three-day conference marking one year of Israel’s war on Gaza.

Mahathir, who is the president of the forum, said in a recorded speech that the forum, since its establishment, has not been limited to its primary goal, which is to gather thinkers and academics interested in the affairs of the nation.

Mahathir said, “October 7 marks a significant day as on this day, Palestinians resolved to send a message to the world that they are determined to liberate their land, rejecting the ongoing blockade, expanding settlements, and the imposition of apartheid policies on Palestinians.”

The October 7 has led to awareness among people in all over the world as seen in the demonstrations of the US and European university students in addition to the positions of some countries, including the historic stand of South Africa in the International Court of Justice, he added.

Mahathir stressed that “the time has come for all Muslims to set aside their differences, because the least we can do while we feel helpless is to damn Israel, the US and their Western allies as well as all those who are complicit in their crimes against humanity.”
