High-ranking Iranian general: Commander of IRGC Quds Force 'Esmail Qaani' in good health

The deputy commander for coordination of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force says the chief commander of the elite force Brigadier General Esmail Qaani is in good health and is performing his duties as usual.

Ahlulbayt News Agency: The deputy commander for coordination of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force says the chief commander of the elite force Brigadier General Esmail Qaani is in good health and is performing his duties as usual.

“Many are asking us about Brigadier General Qaani’s condition. He is safe and sound and is carrying out his activities,” Brigadier General Iraj Masjedi said at a ceremony in northern Tehran on Tuesday.

His comments came following media speculations that Qaani might have been wounded, or even martyred, in a massive Israeli strike last week that was reported to have targeted senior Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine in Beirut's densely populated southern neighborhood of Dahiyeh.

Qaani sends message to International Conference on Solidarity with Palestinian Children

Meanwhile, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has sent a message to the 7th International Conference on Solidarity with Palestinian Children and Adolescents.

In a message published on Tuesday, Qaani extended his salutations to the participants of the event and offered his profound apologies for not being able to take part in the conference due to participation in another special meeting.

On January 3, 2020, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed Esmail Qaani as the new head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force following the US assassination of Major General Qassem Soleimani.

In the statement, the Leader described Gen. Qaani as one of the IRGC's most prominent commanders during Saddam's imposed war on Iran, which lasted eight years starting in 1980.

Qaani was serving as the Quds Force's deputy commander prior to his appointment to direct the elite force.
