Prominent Iraqi Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr issued a statement following the martyrdom of Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Prominent Iraqi Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr issued a statement following the martyrdom of Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement.

“Farewell Oh Comrade on the Path of Resistance,” Sadr wrote in the statement, Middle East News reported.

He said Nasrallah lived a dignified life and achieved a proud martyrdom.

Sadr prayed God Almighty for Nasrallah’s soul to join other martyrs of resistance in paradise and have the blessing of being with the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Imam Ali (AS) and Imam Hussein (AS).

Hezbollah on Saturday confirmed the martyrdom of its popular secretary general.

It said that Nasrallah has achieved martyrdom in massive Israeli airstrikes targeting residential buildings in southern Beirut.

“His Eminence, the Master of Resistance, the righteous servant, has joined his Lord and His pleasure as a great martyr — an outstanding, courageous, wise, and insightful leader — joining the ranks of the radiant martyrs of Karbala in the divine journey of faith, following in the footsteps of the prophets and martyr imams,” the statement said.

“The leadership of Hezbollah vows to the highest, most sacred, and dearest martyr in our journey, filled with sacrifices and martyrs, to continue its struggle against the enemy, supporting Gaza and Palestine, and defending Lebanon and its steadfast, honorable people,” it added.

Since Friday afternoon, the Israeli regime's warplanes have conducted over 30 airstrikes, targeting residential buildings in Burj al-Barajneh, Kafaat, Choueifat, Hadath, al-Laylaki, and Mreijeh, with local media reporting upwards of 300 casualties as a result of the aggression.
