AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The latest clashes in the Parachinar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, have killed 31 people and left at least 70 wounded.
The armed clashes have been going on for five days, according Al-Alam news network.
Sources close to Pakistani Shias say Takfiri and extremist groups have exploited land disputes to target Shia Muslims in Parachinar.
Despite efforts by tribal leaders and the provincial government to ease tensions, a plan for ending the clashes has ended in failure.
Parachinar in the Kurram district, known for its scenic tourist spots in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, borders Afghanistan.
There are concerns that a lack of control over the border has given Takfiri and terrorist groups the chance to launch attacks and foment insecurity.
Attacks on Shia Muslims in the region have occurred time and again over the years, killing many followers of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
The longest clash took place in 2007 during which takfiri groups laid a siege on the city.
Later, from January 2012 to January 2013, 77 attacks took place against Shias, killing 635 and wounding hundreds more.
