AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Senior Iranian Hajj officials visited the tombs of the martyrs of the Mina and Mecca disasters on Monday.
Officials of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and the Office of Representative of Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs paid tribute to the martyrs during the visit to the tombs of the martyrs in Behesht Zahra Cemetery south of Tehran.
They recited Surah al-Fatihah and laid flowers on the tombs of the martyrs.
Hojat-ol-Islam Abdol Fattah Navab, the Representative of Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, said during the visit that the martyrs achieved Liqa Allah (meeting God) in the best place and best time, getting their reward from God.
He also noted that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has stressed that the memory of the martyrs of the Mina disaster should never be forgotten.
On September 11, 2015, a massive construction crane collapsed into Mecca’s Grand Mosque, killing 111 pilgrims, including 11 Iranians, and leaving over 200 others wounded.
Less than two weeks after the collapse of the crane, on September 24, 2015, thousands of Hajj pilgrims, including at least 465 Iranians, died in a crush in Mina, near Mecca, when performing the Hajj rituals.
The crush was the deadliest incident in the history of the pilgrimage.
