AhlulBayt News Agency: The member of the political bureau of Hamas, Ezzat Al-Resheq, said the closure of Al-Jazeera’s office in Ramallah is a retaliatory procedure that comes in revenge for its professional role in exposing the Israeli crimes.
In a press statement on Sunday, Al-Resheq added that the closure of Al-Jazeera’s bureau is an attempt to prevent the channel from covering the performance of the resistance in Gaza, and the Hezbollah counterattacks targeting Israeli military bases.
He pointed out that this closure comes as part of the “Israeli declared war against journalists who are exposed to a systematic Zionist terrorism with the aim of concealing the truth,” stressing that the “closure constitutes a flagrant violation of the freedom of the press and a repression of freedoms.”
The Hamas official stressed that Hamas condemns the closure, and stands in solidarity with Al-Jazeera, underscoring that the decision will not prevent the channel from continuing its work and challenging all obstacles.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed the Al-Jazeera satellite channel’s bureau in Ramallah and handed a 45-day closure order to the network’s West Bank bureau chief, Walid al-Omari.
The IOF stopped the broadcasting, confiscated devices and documents from the office and prevented its employees from using their cars.
