According to the recent statistics, homelessness has turned into a major problem all over the US.

AhlulBayt News Agency: According to the recent statistics, homelessness has turned into a major problem all over the US.

The annual statistics gathered from different urban and rural regions indicate a rise in the number of the homeless across the United States. Wall Street Journal announced that the rising trend of homelessness in the country means that the United States will probably surpass the number of 653,000 homeless of 2023, the highest figure since 2007.

According to Wall Street Journal, more than 250 organizations supporting the homeless in the US, have registered the statistics of at least 550,000 homeless on one day in early 2024. This shows10% increase in comparison with last year.

The final estimate of the homeless in the US depends on the collection of the statistics of regions like the New York city which has the highest number of the homeless among other cities.

Wall Street Journal reiterated that it is not only the immigrants who add to the record of homeless in the US, rather, cutting financial assistance, increase of house prices and rent have also forced people to leave their homes to live in streets.

According to this report, the crisis of psychological health and drug addiction can also be mentioned as a determining cause to increase homelessness in the US. Last year, the United States registered a new record in the field of chronic homelessness which includes the disabled who are always homeless.
