AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Quranic circles are being organized by the Iranian Army units during the Sacred Defense Week, an official said.
Colonel Mehdi Meydani, head of the Quran, Etrat and Prayers Department of the Army’s Ideo-Political Organization, said the Quranic programs are aimed at promoting reflection on the teachings of the Holy Book.
They include recitation of verses from the Quran by qaris and offering interpretations of the verses by scholars, he noted.
At the end of each event, questions from the topics discussed are posed and those who answer them correctly are awarded, Colonel Meydani stated.
He said some 1,500 Quranic programs are planned to be held for the forces of the Ground Force, Air Force, Navy, Air Defense and the Army Headquarters during the week.
The Sacred Defense Week, which started Saturday, marks eight years of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.
This week is annually marked nationwide to commemorate martyrs and war veterans of the Iraqi-imposed war on the Islamic Republic in 1980-88.
