ICRO Chief proposes establishment of Muslim world’s Quranic parliament

The head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) proposed the establishment of a Quranic parliament of the Muslim world.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) proposed the establishment of a Quranic parliament of the Muslim world.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour said the Holy Book of Islam is a harbinger of peace and friendship and founding such a parliament with the cooperation of Muslim countries can contribute to supporting peace.

He made the call while addressing the 20th International Islamic Forum in Moscow, Russia.

Organized by the International Islamic Forum, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, and the Russia Mufties Council, the Forum is being held from September 20 to 22, 2024, under the theme: “The Path to Peace: Dialogue as a Foundation of Harmonious Coexistence.”

In his address, Hojat-ol-Islam Imanipour congratulated the participants on the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and elaborated on various aspects of the word “peace”, the main theme of the forum.

He said the first step on the path to reaching peace among people and upholding their rights is dialogue, interaction and cooperation for peaceful coexistence.

He added that peace cannot be achieved when some are preferred over others, when silence is prevalent in the face of oppression and injustice and when there are inequalities.

The prelude to any kind of peace is justice, and any peace without justice will not be viable, the cleric added.

He said it is incumbent upon Muslim scholars and religious leaders to shed light on realities and make efforts to bring about dialogue and just peace.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the ICRO chief described the issue of Palestine and the ongoing Israeli regime's genocide in the Gaza Strip with support from the West as the main issue of the Muslim world today.

Hojat-ol-Islam Imanipour has traveled to Moscow to attend the forum at the invitation of Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the head of the Russia Mufties Council.
