Quranic event held in New Delhi in celebration of Holy Prophet, Islamic Unity Week

The Islamic-Cultural Center of India in New Delhi hosted a Quranic program this week on the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birth anniversary and the Islamic Unity Week.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Islamic-Cultural Center of India in New Delhi hosted a Quranic program this week on the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birth anniversary and the Islamic Unity Week.

The Iranian Cultural Center in the Indian capital organized the program, which included celebrations on the auspicious occasion as well as the closing ceremony of a Quran competition.

The competition had been held for three days with the participation of more than 200 teenagers and youths.

They competed in three categories of Quran memorization, recitation and interpretation.

Three top winners in each category were awarded at the ceremony.

The Iraqi embassy in New Delhi and the Islamic-Cultural Center of India contributed to the program.

Addressing the event, Iranian Cultural Attaché Faridedin Faridasr hailed the gathering as a celebration of unity in the Muslim Ummah.

He prayed for divine help for continuing to serve the Holy Quran and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) and organizing such programs every year.

The 17th day of Rabi al-Awwal, which falls on September 21 this year, is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month (Thursday, September 16) as the birthday of the last prophet.

The interval between the two dates was declared the Islamic Unity Week by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, in the 1980s.
