1,300 Palestinian memorizers recite Quran at Ibrahmi Mosque’s Milad-un-Nabai event

A Quranic program was held in Al-Khalil on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A Quranic program was held in Al-Khalil on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The Quranic circle was organized at the Ibrahimi Mosque on Sunday, Mirsal Qatar website reported.

During the program, 1,300 male and female Quran memorizers recited the longest chapter of the Holy Book, Surah Al-Baqarah.

Sheikh Mutaz Abu Sneina, director of the Ibrahimi Mosque, said the program was attended by a large number of people.

It was held under the supervision of the Awqaf Department of Al-Khalil, he said.

The Quranic event was part of efforts aimed at enhancing the presence of Muslim worshippers at the Ibrahimi Mosque, which has been desecrated by the Israeli regime forces and settlers time and again, he stated.

The Ibrahimi Mosque was split into a synagogue, known to Jews as the Cave of Patriarchs, and a mosque after American-born Israeli settler Baruch Goldstein massacred 29 Palestinians inside the mosque in 1994. Since then, Muslim worshipers have been prevented from having access to the site during Jewish holidays.

After Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967, it divided al-Khalil into separate Muslim and Jewish cities.

Al-Khalil, which Jews call Hebron, is the biggest city in the West Bank, home to more than 200,000 Palestinians. About 1,000 Israeli settlers, who engage in frequent attacks on Palestinians, also live there under heavy military protection.
