AhlulBayt News Agency: Hamas political chief Yahya Sinwar sent a letter on Monday to Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, the leader of Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, expressing gratitude for their support of Palestinian resistance in Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.
The letter followed the announcement by Ansar Allah of the launch of the fifth phase of their operations in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
In Sinwar’s letter, obtained by Al Jazeera, Sinwar emphasized that Hamas’s Al-Aqsa Flood operation aimed to strike a blow against the Zionist project in both Palestine and the broader region. He expressed his appreciation for the Houthis’ “sincere emotions and unwavering will,” which, he noted, had been demonstrated on the battlefield and through their communications.
Sinwar also congratulated Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi on the recent success of Houthi missile strikes that reached deep into Israel, surpassing Israeli defense systems. “I bless the arrival of your missiles into the heart of the Zionist entity, bypassing layers of defense and interception systems,” Sinwar wrote.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, Sinwar highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis amidst the Israeli genocide and stressing the need for support from the broader Muslim world. Despite nearly a year of ongoing war, Sinwar affirmed that the resistance remains strong, dismissing Israel’s psychological warfare. He added that Hamas was preparing for a war of attrition, which would break Israel’s political will just as it had broken its military strength.
This letter marks Sinwar’s third public message since being elected head of Hamas on August 6. His first message was a congratulatory letter to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for his re-election, praising Algeria’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.
Just three days ago, Sinwar sent another letter to Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, thanking the group for its involvement in the fight against Israeli forces as part of the Al-Aqsa Flood campaign. Hezbollah’s media office revealed this message last Friday, acknowledging the critical role Hezbollah played in backing the resistance.
Sinwar also addressed Nasrallah’s earlier letter, in which the Hezbollah leader congratulated Sinwar on his election and expressed condolences for the assassination of former Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed by Zionists in Tehran on July 31.
Sinwar’s election as head of Hamas was confirmed on August 6, following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh.
