Dozens of children learn holy Quran at Kosovo memorization academy in 7 years

The “Little Memorizers” Academy is an institute in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, that teaches Quran to children.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The “Little Memorizers” Academy is an institute in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, that teaches Quran to children.

The institute was launched by two Kosovan sisters who are memorizers of the Holy Book.

In seven years, since they founded the Little Memorizers Academy, they have managed to teach Quran memorization and recitation to more than 1,000 children and teenagers.

In addition to Kosovan children, hundreds of Albanian children living in different countries like Italy, Austria, and Switzerland have taken the summer online courses organized by the institute.

The two sisters, Renita and Fatima Nitaj, say that love for the Quran was instilled in their hearts by their parents.

They began their journey with the Quran at the age of 7, attending Quranic classes both during summer holidays and during school year.

They have been successful both in the Quranic field and in school and university.

They have a BA and an MA in Islamic Studies from the Islamic Studies Faculty of the University of Pristina.

After learning the Quran by heart, the two set out to fulfill their second wish: to teach the Quran to children. That is why they established the Little Memorizers Academy, where children learn Quran memorization, recitation and Tajweed.

They started the academy with just three students even years ago but over the years, more than 1,000 children and young adults learned the Quran at the institute.

The courses offered at the institute begin with lessons of the Arabic alphabets and continue with lessons on reading the Quran and Tajweed. The learners also memorize Surahs of the Holy Book.

Renita and Fatima say their task in the academy is to teach living with the Quran and Quranic guidance to children, which will guarantee salvation for all.

They say the academy also organizes various cultural, arts and recreational activities as well as charity events.

The academy’s summer courses this year, attended by 220 boys and girls, concluded in August but teaching at the institute continues throughout the year.

Kosovo is a multi-faith, multi-ethnic state in the Balkans in Southeast Europe.  Kosovo does not have an official religion. More than nine-tenths of the people are Muslim.
