AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Books about the Islamic Republic of Iran’s leaders and leaders of the Islamic resistance are popular among Russians visiting Iran’s pavilion at the 37th Moscow International Book Fair.

This is according to the Iranian ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, speaking during a visit to the international cultural event.

He noted that more than 60 Iranian publishers have presented their books at the exhibition.

Jalali said reading books and participating in book fairs is among ways to develop cultural ties between the two countries and help the two peoples know one another more.

During the envoy’s visit, 11 new titles published in the Russian language by the Sadra Publications were unveiled at the book fair.

The Sara Publications is affiliated to the Moscow-based Ibn Sina Culture Research Foundation.

Addressing the unveiling ceremony, Jalali said culture should be the main pillar of relations between countries.

He also hailed the good trend of translations of works from Persian to Russian and vice versa.

On the first day of the book fair, new titles published by Al-Mustafa International University were unveiled.

According to Hojat-ol-Islam Rasoul Abdollahi, the university’s representative in Russia, Al-Mustafa published nearly 50 titles in the Russian language last year.

He said 16 new titles are among the books on display at the university’s booth.

They have been published in the fields of humanities and Islamic sciences with a view to promoting proximity among Islamic schools of thought and enhancing interfaith dialogue, he added.

The Moscow International Book Fair is the most important international book event in Russia and the most significant annual event for the Russian book industry.

More than 300 publishing houses from Russia and other countries have showcased their books at the event, which is running from September 4 to 8.
