US woman indicted for attempt to drown 3-year-old Palestinian-American girl

A grand jury in Tarrant County, Texas, has formally indicted Elizabeth Wolf, 42, in the attempted drowning of a three-year-old Palestinian-American girl, an incident that police have described as racially motivated.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A grand jury in Tarrant County, Texas, has formally indicted Elizabeth Wolf, 42, in the attempted drowning of a three-year-old Palestinian-American girl, an incident that police have described as racially motivated.

The indictment, filed last month, includes a hate crime enhancement, which could increase the severity of Wolf's sentence if she is found guilty.

Wolf faces charges of attempted capital murder of a person under 10 years of age and intentionally causing bodily injury to a child.

The incident occurred in May at an apartment complex swimming pool in Euless, a suburb of Dallas-Fort Worth. According to a police report, Wolf approached the mother of the three-year-old girl, who was at the pool with her six-year-old son, and asked where they were from. Wolf then allegedly tried to drown the three-year-old and attempted to grab the six-year-old boy. The mother managed to pull her daughter from the water, and local medics cleared the children at the scene.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Texas) stated earlier this year that the accused approached the mother with "racist interrogations" before grabbing the children, who were in the shallow end of the pool, and pulling them into the deep end.

Human rights advocates have expressed concern over increasing threats against Palestinian Americans and Muslims since the start of the Israeli regime’s war on Gaza.

In late November, three Palestinian men in their early 20s were shot near a university campus in Vermont, injuring all three.

A month earlier, a six-year-old Palestinian-American boy was stabbed to death in Illinois. Police charged a 71-year-old man with murder and a hate crime for the stabbing, which also seriously injured the boy's mother. According to police, the attacker targeted the victims due to their religion and the ongoing war in Gaza.
