Ahlulbayt News Agency: According to Doug Livermore, Director of Special Operations for the Deputy Under Secretary of the US Navy, all red lights are warning about the activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
Foreign Policy magazine claimed in a report that, after the new dominance of Taliban on Afghanistan, the al-Qaeda terrorist group is gradually spreading in the country as Taliban tries little to suppress terrorist groups and this has caused the groups like al-Qaeda feel more comfortable to spread across the country. Based on what Foreign Policy claims, al-Qaeda has set up more than 9 terrorist camps in Afghanistan in 2024. If this claim is true, this terrorist groups bears a heavy responsibility in the country.
Expert of political issues, Amin Farjad, says on the issue, "The US says that, based on the Doha agreement, Taliban is committed to prevent the activity of any terrorist group in Afghanistan; for sure those groups which endanger the US' security. In view of this, the activity of terrorist groups in Afghanistan under the Taliban rule is not a matter of concern for the US."
According to the claims of some informed sources in Afghanistan, Taliban has permitted al-Qaeda to establish a base and ammunition warehouses in the center of Panjshir Valley. The indifference of Taliban towards reinforcement of security of the borders has caused terrorist groups, such as al-Qaeda, DAESH of Khorasan and Tahrik Taliban of Pakistan, to expand their activities in Afghanistan more than ever. According to the announcement of Taliban government, before 2021, more than 21 recognized terrorist groups were active in the country which, according to the reports, they have increased their activities for the past three years.
Doug Livermore, Director of Special Operations for the Deputy Under Secretary of the US Navy, believes that all red lights are warning about the activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan. The United Nations also maintains that al-Qaeda terrorist group has set up camps and training bases in at least 10 out of the 34 wilåyats (provinces) of Afghanistan. This means that al-Qaeda terrorist group is recruiting and training forces from outside Afghanistan. It is said that al-Qaeda has asked foreign warriors to immigrate to Afghanistan and get ready for attacking the enemies.
Although there is no exact field information on the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, the published reports of Western sources are worrying in this regard.
The US' indifference towards this issue confirms this opinion of analysts that US has pulled out from Afghanistan but turned this country into the haven of terrorists most of which were its own offspring. This way, Washington intends to imperil the security of the regional countries, including the Central Asia up to the Chinese borders.
Undoubtedly, the US has exact information on the activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, but as long as they pose no threat to the security and interests of the US, Washington's light will remain green for them.
