Ahlulbayt News Agency: A member of parliament in Egypt said the law should be strictly enforced against those who recite the Quran incorrectly.
Khalid Tantawi urged the country’s Association of Quran Reciters and Memorizers to introduce new and decisive regulations to prevent errors in recitation, Youm7 website reported.
He appreciated the efforts made by the head of the association, Mohamed Salih Rashad, in this regard but expressed regret over the repetition of mistakes by qaris while reciting Quran.
Tantawi called on Rashad to punish all of those who make such mistakes and ban their recitation in different media outlets.
He also said the association should organize regular courses for qaris to prevent the repetition of such mistakes.
Recently, a number of Egyptian Quran reciters have been suspended or banned for making mistakes while reciting the Holy Book.
The Association of Quran Reciters and Memorizers has urged qaris to practice and get fully prepared before reciting the Quran in public events or in media.
