AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The operation to clean and dust Bain-ul-Haramain in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, began with the conclusion of the Arbaeen procession on Sunday evening.
Bain-ul-Haramain is an area between the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS)
The Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine of Hazrat Abbas (AS) is implementing the operation, according to al-Kafeel.
Muhammad al-Taweel, an official with the Astan’s Bain-ul-Haramain department, said the staff of the department have been cleaning and washing the area and the entrances.
They have also removed a large amount of waste and replaced the carpets with new ones, he stated.
The efforts are aimed at preparing the area for pilgrims who visit the holy site after Arbaeen and for religious and cultural programs in the coming days and weeks, he noted.
The department had made a lot of efforts to serve millions of Arbaeen pilgrims over the past days, according to the official.
Arbaeen is a religious event observed by Shia Muslims on the fortieth day after the Day of Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Shia imam.
It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, with millions of Shia Muslims walking to Karbala from various cities in Iraq and neighboring countries. This year, the day of Arbaeen fell on August 25.
