AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Devotees of Imam Hussain (AS) attended mosques in Moscow and Muslim-populated areas of Russia to mourn Arbaeen.
According to the Iranpress news agency from Moscow, hundreds of Shiites living in Moscow including Azeri, Iranian, Iraqi, Lebanese and Afghan nationals, participated in the Arbaeen ceremony to mourn Imam Hussain (AS) at the Islamic Center of Moscow, Khatam-ul-Anbiya Mosque of the Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy, Husayniyya of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) and Shia Mosque in Moscow.
Also, in other Muslim-populated regions of Russia, including the Shiite cities of Darband and Makhach Qala in the Republic of Dagestan, Imam Ali (AS) Husayniyya of St. Petersburg, Iranian Consulate General Hosseinieh in Kazan, Iranian Consulate General Husayniyyain Astrakhan and Yekaterinburg Husayniyya, the devotees of Imam Hussain (AS) observed mourning of Arbaeen.
The Arbaeen, or the 40 days after Ashura, commemorates the martyrdom of Prophet Mohammed's grandson, Imam Hussain, who was martyred by the army of Yazid I in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD on the 10th day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.
