AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A prominent Iranian cleric described the Israeli regime as the main cause of discord in the Muslim world.
Addressing the second international conference of “Arbaeen and Islamic Convergence”, Representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Abdol Fattah Navab said the Zionists have been humiliated and disgraced as a result of the heroic resistance of the people of the Gaza Strip.
The conference was held Monday at the holy mausoleum of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala, Iraq, with the participation of scholars from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Palestine.
Hojat-ol-Islam Navab added that the people of Gaza have brought the enemy, who is armed to the teeth, to its knees.
The enemy has been slapped in the face by all Muslim groups and that is why it seeks to destroy the entire Muslim world, he said.
Stressing the importance of strengthening Muslim unity, he said the impediments to unity should be eliminated.
He referred to worldly desires, prejudices, ethnic biases, incorrect interpretation of the religion, wrong ideological structures as some of the obstacles in the path of Islamic unity.
Clarifying the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the verses of the Quran and the Seerah of the Infallible Imams (AS) are some of the main strategies to prevent discord and disunity in the Muslim world, Hojat-ol-Islam Navab went on to say.
Other speakers at the conference also underlined the significance of boosting unity and avoiding the causes of discord.
They also touched on the issue of the lessons that can be learned from the event of Karbala and stressed that Karbala is the path of defending al-Quds.
Anyone seeking to help Imam Hussein (AS) today should help the people of Gaza, one of the speakers said.
Elsewhere at the event, renowned poet Sayyid Safi recited poems in praise of Imam Hussein (AS).
At the end of the conference, the participants issued a statement in which the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage was described as a sublime discourse originating from monotheism and manifesting moral virtues.
The statement referred to the Arbaeen march as a unique opportunity to strengthen Muslim unity and called for efforts toward greater convergence in the Muslim Ummah.
The participants also hailed the selection of “Karbala, Path of al-Quds” as the main slogan in this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage.
They hailed the support for Gaza from Islamic resistance movements in Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon.
They also condemned the Israeli regime’s atrocities in Gaza and called on international bodies to fulfill their duty to put an end to the ongoing genocide in the Palestinian enclave.
