AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The CEO of Karamat Razavi Foundation has announced that vast services will be provided to Arbaeen pilgrims both inside and outside the country.
According to Mohammad Hossein Ostad Agha, “Our main duty is provision of services to pilgrims of Imam Reza; besides, we will provide services to Arbaeen pilgrims in collaboration with benefactors and donors”.
Pointing to Arbaeen Mukibs (pilgrim service stations) both inside and outside Iran, Ostad Agha said, “Some 160,000 servants are set to serve pilgrims during Arbaeen”.
He added that some Mukibs had also been set up on the eastern borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan in addition to those on the western borders with Iraq.
Pilgrims making the march of Arbaeen to the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala will be provided with accommodation and treatment services on western and southwestern borders.
Ostad Agha further referred to Arbaeen Mukibs on southeastern borders by Sunni Muslims, saying, “This shows the unity of Muslims in Iran”.
Last year, some 600,000 meals were prepared and distributed among pilgrims, which will be repeated this year as well.
The services will be available to pilgrims until August 27.
Based on last year’s statistics, some 3.5 million pilgrims crossed land borders into Iraq, which had added up to 7 million considering the return trip.
The Arbaeen pilgrimage is the world's largest annual public gathering. It is a pilgrimage to the shrine of Imam Hussein, grandson of Prophet Mohammad and the third Shia Imam. Every year, on the twentieth of Safar, also known as Arbaeen, millions of pilgrims flock to Karbala, Iraq, often arriving there on foot from the nearby city of Najaf. Arbaeen marks forty days after martyrdom of Imam Hussein in Karbala, Iraq, on Muharram 10, known as Ashura.
