Quranic stations planned in Iraq for Arbaeen

The Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine is going to hold Quranic programs for pilgrims during the Arbaeen march.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine is going to hold Quranic programs for pilgrims during the Arbaeen march.

According to the website of the Astan, 250 Quranic stations will be set up in 12 governorates of the Arab country, including Basra, Kirkuk, Baghdad and Diyala.

They will be launched in cooperation with the Association of Quran Activists and with support from other organizations, institutes and mosques.

They offer different Quranic programs and services, including correction of recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha and other little chapters of the Holy Book.

Pilgrims can also improve their Quran recitation skills at the Quranic stations, according to the officials of the Dar-Quran Center.

The programs are aimed at elevating the level of pilgrims’ Quranic knowledge and skills and promoting the Quranic culture among them.

Meanwhile, the holy mausoleum of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf is being prepared to host a large number of Arbaeen pilgrims who visit the shrine before leaving for Karbala.

Arbaeen is a religious event that is observed by Shia Muslims on the fortieth day after the Day of Ashura.

It commemorates the 40th day of martyrdom of Hussein ibn Ali (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Shia imam, who was killed by the army of Yazid I in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.

Arbaeen is also known as the Ziyarat of Arbaeen, which means the visitation of Imam Hussein’s (AS) shrine in Karbala, Iraq, where his body is buried. Ziyarat is an act of pilgrimage and devotion in Shia Islam.

Arbaeen is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, with millions of Shia Muslims from different countries walking to Karbala from various cities in Iraq and neighboring countries. The distance can range from 80 km to 500 km or more, depending on the starting point.

This year’s Arbaeen falls on August 25.
