AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A Turkish painter has put on display his artistic depictions of Karbala incident on Ashura (10th day of Muharram) in Imam Reza shrine (northeast Iran) under the aegis of Deputy Office for International Pilgrims’ Affairs.
Hasan Alinca, a painter from the Turkish city of Igdir, is famous for his illustrations of Imam Hussein (3rd Shia Imam) and his household’s passions in the battle of Karbala, 680 AD.
In one of his works, Imam Hussein is depicted bidding farewell to his household while another one shows his distraught horse, Zoljanah, returning to Imam Hussein’s camp with a bloody mane and an upside-down saddle.
“In this exhibition, some 14 paintings have been put on display each illustrating a different scene of Karbala tragedy”, said Alinca.
According to the Turkish artist, “Following the Karbala incident and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his mission to promote Islam has come to an end while Hazrat Zeinab’s (Imam Hussain’s sister) mission of enlightenment commenced. I would also like to carry on this mission using my artistic talent”.
Elsewhere, he pointed to the painting of Hazrat Aliasghar, stating: “In my opinion, Ashura incident could be summed up in this single painting. The scene, where Imam Hussein is holding Quran in one hand and his infant in another, conveys the message that he was ready to sacrifice everything, even his suckling baby on the path of Islam and Quran. Now it’s our turn to continue on the path of Hazrat Zeinab with anything at our disposal”.
The exhibition will be underway in Dar al-Rahmah Portico (9-13 hrs), and in Ghadir Courtyard (16-20 hrs) from August 8 to 10.
