AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An illegal military facility housing US occupation forces in Syria’s northeastern province of Hasakah has come under a drone attack from nearby areas.
Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television, citing local sources, reported that several explosions were heard inside the US-controlled Kharab al-Jir Air Base early on Saturday after an explosive-laden unmanned aerial vehicle struck the site.
There were no immediate reports about possible casualties or the extent of damage at the installation.
The attack comes amid an escalation in clashes between Arab tribes and US-backed Kurdish separatist forces in eastern Syria in recent days.
Residents, marginalized by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) which controls the region's oil resources, have attacked positions of the Kurdish separatists.
Nomadic forces in eastern Deir ez-Zor have successfully pushed back Kurdish separatist militias and advanced near the al-Omar oil field, prompting a response from US forces.
US warplanes have reportedly bombarded nearby areas to support the Kurdish militants. The nomadic forces are demanding the right to self-determination and the withdrawal of both US occupation forces and Kurdish separatists from Deir ez-Zor.
