AhlulBayt News Agency: Two Sunni clerics hailing from western Iran have stressed Sunnis’ deep love and respect for Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and Imam Hussein (AS).

“The people of Kordestan hold a deep love for the Ahl al-Bayt (AS),” Sheikh Faeq Rostami, Friday Prayer Imam of Sanandaj city, said on Sunday while addressing a seminar.

This love is so significant that they often name their children after members of Ahl al-Bayt (AS), ensuring that every family has at least one child with a name honoring them, he added.

According to Al-Tathir Verse, Sunnis view the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) as a source of purity, he said, referring to verse 33 of Surah Al-Ahzab which both Shia and Sunni scholars believe stresses the noble virtues of the family of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

“Imam Hussein's (AS) uprising was a monumental lesson for humanity, aimed at reviving Islamic teachings,” Rostami said.

His uprising was not for personal gain but to initiate a significant movement to uphold Islamic principles, he added.

“This movement aimed to combat oppression and implement justice for all; Today, the awakened conscience of Muslims against the oppression of the Zionist regime can be traced back to Imam Hussein's uprising.

“Imam Hussein (AS) was martyred, but his martyrdom established a lasting legacy and sparked an important global revolution,” the cleric noted.

A host of other Sunni scholars also addressed the event, touching upon the virtues of Ahl al-Bayt (AS).

“Love for Imam Hussein (AS) transcends religious boundaries, with the entire Islamic Ummah showing devotion to him as the Prophet’s (PBUH) grandson and for his virtuous qualities,” Sheikh Abdul Rahman Moradi, Friday Prayer Imam of Kermanshah city, said.

“Sunnis deeply love the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) due to the virtues described by the Prophet (PBUH) and the esteemed position granted to them by God,” he added.

No follower of Sunni Islam harbors affection for Yazid, he said, referring to Yazid Bin Muawiya, whose army killed Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions on the tenth day of Muharram (known as Ashura) in the year 680 AD.
