AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The southern Iranian city of Kerman will host the 21st international convention of Pir-Gholaman Husseini this week.
Pir-Gholaman Husseini refers to veteran servants of ceremonies held to commemorate Imam Hussein’s (AS) martyrdom.
According to the organizers, Pir-Gholaman Husseini from Iran and 13 other countries, namely Iraq, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Peru, Burkina Faso, Afghanistan, Turkey, Thailand, Colombia, Germany, the Philippines and Syria, will take part in the gathering.
It is scheduled to be held from July 30 to August 1.
There will be various programs on the sidelines of the main event, including visits to local mosques and mourning gatherings.
This is an annual event that seeks to honor those individuals who have for years served in mourning gatherings for Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions.
Shia Muslims, and others in different parts of the world, hold ceremonies every year in Muharram to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions.
The third Shia Imam (AS) and a small group of his followers and family members were martyred by the tyrant of his time - Yazid Bin Muawiya, in the battle of Karbala on Ashura in the year 680 AD.
This year’s Pir-Gholaman Husseini convention will also commemorate the martyrs of the Gaza Strip as well as those martyred in a January terrorist attack in Kerman.
On January 3, 2024, a commemorative ceremony marking the assassination of Iranian top commander Lt. General Qasem Soleimani at his grave in Kerman was attacked by two bomb explosions. The terrorist attacks killed 103 people and injured 284 others.
