Head of Iranian seminaries met with the grand mufti of Russia to discuss bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Head of Iranian seminaries met with the grand mufti of Russia to discuss bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, Director of Iran's Islamic Seminaries, met with Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, Grand Mufti and Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, at the Grand Mosque of Moscow, on Wednesday.

The meeting included Kazem Jalali, Iran's ambassador to Russia, and various Shia and Sunni scholars.

The clerics discussed promoting true Islam and leveraging its principles to address global issues.

Both sides explored joint cooperation to unify Islamic sects and promote a moderate, rational interpretation of Islam.

Ayatollah Arafi conveyed greetings from Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and emphasized Islam's potential to solve modern challenges through rationality and moderation.

Ayatollah Arafi highlighted the efforts of Al-Mustafa International University and Iranian seminaries in revitalizing religious thought.

Islamic teachings can foster a civilization based on rationality, spirituality, justice, and peace, added Ayatollah Arafi who is in Russia to attend and address "Spiritual Silk Road" international conference.

Ayatollah Arafi addressed global problems such as poverty, corruption, and environmental issues, attributing them to a lack of morality and justice. He condemned the Israeli aggression on Gaza and criticized the lack of response from countries claiming to defend human rights.

Ayatollah Arafi commended Mufti Gaynutdin's rational stance on global issues and his efforts to protect Islam and the interests of Russian Muslims.

He expressed hope for a comprehensive cooperation agreement between Iran and Russia under the new Iranian government, led by President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian, to enhance bilateral relations.
