AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Hundreds of Ghanaian Shia Muslims commemorated the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein amid heavy rainfall in Accra.
In the central city of Accra, crowds of Shia from across Ghana gathered to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad who was martyred at the Battle of Karbala in 680 Islamic calendar.
“We are commemorating this day in order to remind all Muslims that this is the injustice that was done to Imam Hussein and to the household of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), it is indeed the dark part of history but we can’t push it under the carpet, we need to constantly remind ourselves about this day and let the world know that indeed he was and still is the beloved of Prophet Muhammed,” one of the attendees Mujeeb Mohammed said in an interview with Iran press.
