AhlulBayt News Agency: The Islamic Center of Eastside in Bellevue, Washington, has reopened its doors seven years after being targeted by arsonists.
The mosque, which first burned in an arson attack in 2017 and was set on fire again the following year, held a reopening ceremony on Saturday to thank the community for its unwavering support.
“People from all different denominations, people of all different colors, people of all different nationalities … it was amazing how this city of Bellevue got together and supported us,” a mosque official said, KING-TV reported on Saturday.
The Islamic Center of Eastside, also known as the Bellevue Masjid, was established in 1993 and serves as the first permanent mosque on the eastside of Seattle.
It conducts daily prayers, weekly Juma`ah prayers, and various educational and outreach programs for the community.
Police arrested two suspects in connection with the fires, and both were convicted.
