100 Quran exhibitions to be held across Iran during Muharram

A total of 100 Quran exhibitions will be organized in leading gatherings of mourners during the lunar months of Muharram this year, an official said.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A total of 100 Quran exhibitions will be organized in leading gatherings of mourners during the lunar months of Muharram this year, an official said.

Quranic exhibitions will be held in over a hundred leading gatherings of mourners during the months of Muharram and Safar, Hojat-ol-Islam Majid Babakhani, head of an organization that oversees the mourning gatherings, told a press conference on Sunday.

These exhibitions, titled “Quran and Resistance," present Quranic concepts through art, pictures, and posters, he added.

“We cannot mention the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) without also referring to the Quran, nor can we discuss the Quran and ignore the Ahl al-Bayt (AS),” he said.

Programs have been organized for Muharram mourning processions to be immersed in a more Quranic atmosphere, noted the official.

“This includes both the aesthetic use of Quranic themes and art, and engaging with Quranic verses and concepts to help mourners become more familiar with some selected verses,” he added.

One of these programs involves reviewing and interpreting the verses recited by Imam Hussein (AS) on the journey from Medina to Mecca and from Mecca to Karbala, according to Babakhani.

“The most important lesson we can learn from the Ashura uprising is the triumph of right over wrong,” he stressed.

Muharram is the first month in the lunar Hijri calendar.

Shia Muslims and others in different parts of the world hold ceremonies every year in the month of Muharram to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions.

The third Shia Imam (AS) and a small group of his followers and family members were martyred by the tyrant of his time - Yazid Bin Muawiya, in the battle of Karbala on the tenth day of Muharram (known as Ashura) in the year 680 AD.
