AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Taliban forces pulled down the flag of Imam Hussain (a.s.) mourners in Herat province in western Afghanistan and arrested two mourners of Imam Hussain (a.s.) for erecting this flag.
A source from Herat Province told ABNA news agency reporter that Taliban forces tore down the flag of the mourners on the first night of Muharram in an area of the Shiite town of Jibril in Herat city.
According to this source, this action was carried out by the Taliban forces who have been deployed in this area with the aim of providing security.
According to the source, two Taliban forces brought down and tore the mourning flag from the gates in the "Bazarcheh" area of Haji Abbas neighborhood at night.
The source also stated that the Taliban forces arrested two shopkeepers who went to the office of the Shia Ulema Council in Herat because of the tearing of the mourning flag.
Taliban forces severely beat these two shopkeepers and mourners of Imam Hussein (a.s.) during their detention, the source said.
According to the information received by ABNA news agency reporter, the officials of the so-called Taliban administration in this Shiite district of Herat have prohibited the peddlers from selling flags and special clothes for the month of Muharram.
Last year, during Muharram, the Taliban forces carried out similar actions in the cities of Kabul and Ghazni, which caused the anger of Shiites in Afghanistan.
Earlier, in a statement on the occasion of Muharram and Ashura of Hosseini, the Shia Ulema Council of Afghanistan asked the Taliban to prevent its forces from engaging in sensitive behavior during the days of Muharram mourning.
