Iran’s Arbaeen Quranic convoy to include male, female Qaris

The cultural and educational committee of Iran’s Arbaeen Headquarters said both male and female qaris, Tarteel reciters and Tawasheeh groups can register to be part of this year’s Arbaeen Quranic convoy.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The cultural and educational committee of Iran’s Arbaeen Headquarters said both male and female qaris, Tarteel reciters and Tawasheeh groups can register to be part of this year’s Arbaeen Quranic convoy.

The committee launched the registration process earlier this week, and those interested in joining the convoy, known as the Noor Convoy, have until July 6 to sign up.

There are certain conditions introduced by the committee for being a member of the convoy.

The applicants must be at least 20 years old and be winner of a rank in prestigious Quran competitions in the field of recitation.

A spirit of cooperation and a willingness to work under difficult conditions are among the requirements for applicants.

They must also have a passport that is valid for at least six months.

After the end of the registration period, the Committee for Inviting and Dispatching Qaris will hold sessions to evaluate the qualifications of the candidates and select the members of the convoy.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

It marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS). This year’s Arbaeen is expected to fall on August 25, depending on the moonsighting.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

The pilgrims, mainly from Iraq and Iran, travel long routes on foot to the holy city.

The members of Iran’s Noor Convoy perform different Quranic and religious programs, including recitation of the Quran, Adhan (call to prayers), and Tawasheeh on the road between Najaf and Karbala during the Arbaeen march.
