AhlulBayt News Agency: The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has said that the Israeli army took more than 75 percent of the agricultural land area out of service in the Gaza Strip, either through isolating it as a prelude to illegally annexing it by force or destroying and bulldozing it.
In a report on Sunday, Euro-Med accused the Israeli army of seeking to destroy Gaza’s food basket of vegetables, fruits and meat, in addition to destroying other components of its local food production.
Euro-Med also accused the Israeli army of preventing the entry of food supplies and humanitarian aid as part of its effort to perpetuate famine in the Gaza Strip and use starvation as a weapon of war.
Euro-Med said that Israeli forces systematically carried out widespread destruction of agricultural land, and bird and livestock farms with the aim of making the Gaza population’s survival dependent on Israel’s decision to allow in or block humanitarian aid.
Euro-Med added that its field teams documented that the occupation army deliberately killed many farmers while they were working or trying to reach their lands and farms, in addition to destroying thousands of farms, greenhouses, water wells and tanks, and agricultural equipment.
Euro-Med called on the international community to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, including essential food and non-food items, in order to address the health and environmental disaster in an immediate, safe and effective manner.
