AhlulBayt News Agency: An Iraqi cleric described the idea of normalization of ties between the Arab country and the Zionist regime as a non-starter.
Hojat-ol-Islam Sayyid Hakim al-Mousawi, the head of the Thar al-Shuhada movement in Iraq’s Basra Governorate, dismissed the idea raised by some Iraqi officials and personalities.
He said Iraq would never normalize relations with the Israeli regime even if all other countries did.
Iraq is the country of noble people who fight against the Israeli regime, he stated.
Iraq has a religious and cultural identity rooted in the way of Imam Ali (AS) and uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) and has scholars and sources of emulation who will never allow such a thing (normalization with Israel) to happen, Hojat-ol-Islam al-Mousawi stressed.
He criticized those in the country who entertain such an idea and thus implementing the plots hatched by the aliens, saying the Iraqi resistance and the country’s tribes are also totally against normalization with the Tel Aviv regime.
Iraq’s parliament passes a law in May 2022 making it illegal for the country to ever normalize its relations with the Israeli regime.
The legislative body gave its blessing to the legislation amid several regional states’ push to endear themselves to the occupying regime.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam al-Mousawi lauded the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting Palestine and serving as the center of the axis of resistance.
There is no country the world supporting the cause of Palestine and the Palestinian nation more than Iran, he stated.
The Iraqi cleric also hailed Iran’s stances on the developments in Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and said the Islamic Republic supports the legitimate governments of these countries and confronts the terrorism created in the West Asia region by the United States.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is standing against American terrorism to defend Islam, regional nations and Islamic principles and values, he added.
The US seeks the Zionist regime’s political, economic, cultural and religious dominance in West Asia but this will not happen thanks to the regional resistance supported by Iran, he went on to say.
