Ahlulbayt News Agency: Quran memorization centers have remained active in Sudan although the country is the scene of conflicts since a war erupted last year between the army and a rival paramilitary force.
This is according to Abdul Rahman Hafiz, the founder and manger of the Hazrat Zeynab (SA) Quran Memorization and Quranic Sciences Center in Khartoum.
He said while the war continues and schools, universities and educational centers remain closed in Sudan, the Quran memorization centers in the country have not suspended their activities.
Hafiz noted that the Hazrat Zeynab (SA) Quranic center was launched five months ago.
It has become a refugee for school and university students who can no longer attend classes, he said.
Hafiz said in this short period since the launch of the center, it has managed to train some memorizers of the entire Quran as well as those who have memorized part of the Holy Book.
He called on the people of Khartoum to send their children to the center so that they can make better use of their time.
He also stressed the need for establishing more such Quranic centers in the country.
The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has been fighting the army, led by Gen. Abdel Fattah Burhan, for control of the North African country since April 15 last year in a war that has killed over 16,000 people and displaced approximately 8.7 million people amid warnings of famine.
Sudan is a country in Africa and over 97 percent of its population is Muslim.
Quranic activities are prevalent in Sudan and its people are very keen on learning the Quran.
There are Quranic classes called ‘Khalawat’ as well as Quranic schools across the country. There are many people in the country who know the entire Quran by heart.
