AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A court in Bahrain gave prison terms to five individuals for taking part in activities held in solidarity with Gaza.
The five activists were each sentenced to one year in jail, while one had his imprisonment suspended, the Bahrain Mirror daily reported.
Jafar Taqi al-Hilwaji (20), Ammar Salih Hassan (23), Muntadhar Muhammad Muhsin (21), Ali Muhammad Muhsin (21) and Ali Ahmed Jassim Nasif (71) have been in detention for 4 months, according to Bahrain’s Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society.
They had taken part in a peaceful rally on February 14, 2024, in support of the Gaza Strip and condemnation of the Israeli atrocities.
Al-Wefaq slammed the Manama regime for continuing to suppress protesters and crack down on any peaceful demonstration in support of the oppressed people of Gaza.
It noted that such rallies do not conform to the policies of the Bahraini rulers who have normalized ties with the Zionist regime.
More than 37,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and many more injured in the Israeli regime’s brutal war on the Gaza Strip that began on October 7, 2023.
The Israeli genocide in the Palestinian enclave has drawn condemnations from people and governments across the world, with rallies held in support of Gaza in various countries.
