AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran’s acting president called the annual Arbaeen march as a manifestation of the global glory of the Muslim world.
Mohammad Mokhber made the remark at a meeting of the country’s Arbaeen Headquarters on Wednesday.
He stressed the need for all-out efforts by all related bodies to remove the problems and shortcoming that pilgrims face in the annual event.
He added that all preparations should be made to provide the necessary services to the pilgrims, including those related to health, transportation, water and food.
The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
It marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS). This year’s Arbaeen falls on August 25.
Every year, a monumental throng of Shia devotees undertakes a profound pilgrimage to the city of Karbala in Iraq, where the sacred sanctuary of Imam Hussein (AS) stands.
Drawing primarily from the regions of Iraq and Iran, these pilgrims embark on arduous foot journeys, traversing extensive routes to reach the sacred precincts of the holy city.
