AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqoub Zakzaky in an exclusive interview with Iran Press in Abuja said that before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, a lot of people in the world were seeing the issue of Palestine as Palestinians' issue only, but the late Imam Khomeini changed that perception and made the world understood that it's a global issue and the rights of Palestinians must be given back to them.
"A lot of people were thinking that there were two countries, one is called Israel the other is called Palestine. While some people believed that there was only founded Israel which Palestinians gave them some trouble. And a lot of people were thinking that Palestinians cause was an Arabs issue. It was thought of Imam Khomeini that made it international issues. The declaration of the last Friday of Ramadan as the day for solidarity with the Palestinian people, the message has been widely publicized."
According to Imam Khomeini, the issue of Palestine was not a Palestinian matter alone or an Arab matter. It was also not only Islamic. It is a worldwide matter, it's a conflict between the oppressors and the oppressed.
"And this message of Imam Khomeini has been spread worldwide. It has been spread to Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and even in North America as well. That's why you see participatants in the free Palestine' protests involve Muslims, Christians and even Jews who do not support the oppression against Palestinian people," the top African cleric reiterated. "All thanks be to Allah. Now, the Palestinian cause has became an internal issue in which everyone speaks of Palestine. You can see Palestinian flags waving everywhere. People attending graduation ceremonies in the United States where the students carried the Palestinian flags and they're chanting the slogans of free Palestine. Free Palestine is everywhere," the leader of the Islamic Movement stated.
