AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A senior Iranian cleric says the Israeli attack on displaced Palestinians’ tents in Rafah shows the “desperation” of the regime, noting that Shia clerics will continue to support Palestinians until ultimate victory.
“The brutal and child-killing Zionist regime committed a new and unprecedented crime with its insane attack on the Rafah refugee camp, which hurts the heart of anyone who has even a whiff of humanity,” Director of Islamic Seminaries Ayatollah Alireza Arafi said in a message on Friday.
“The world will soon see the day when the pure blood of the oppressed children of Palestine will form a roaring flood, ruining the weak foundations of the regime and its international supporters, especially the US, the Great Satan,” he added.
Addressing the oppressed people of Gaza, he added, “Indeed, the martyrdom of your children, women, youth and men is a great pain for you and us, but you consider the spirit of resistance to be greater.”
The fruit of this “great resistance” and the “martyrs’ blood” will make the occupying regime and its supporters drown in a “sea of world’s anger,” he added.
“Be sure that these crimes indicate the desperation and helplessness of the usurping Zionist regime against the resistance of the great Palestinian nation and the strong, amazing, and praiseworthy will of the Palestinian people,” Ayatollah Arafi said.
“Although the martyrdom of Palestinian women and children in Gaza and Rafah is heartbreaking, what is more painful is the silence and appeasement of Western governments and some of the Arab and Islamic rulers in the face of such crimes,” he said, noting that this silence has sent a wrong signal for the regime to continue its crimes.
“Undoubtedly, the role of America and some Western governments in attacking Rafah and killing displaced women and children, which is unprecedented in human history, is an unforgivable sin that will never be ignored,” he said.
“I swear in front of the Almighty God and on behalf of all the Shia clerics that we will remain with you until the final victory,” concluded the senior cleric.
The Israeli regime is persisting with its aggression on Rafah despite an order by the International Court of Justice to halt the brutal attacks. Israeli airstrikes on a tent camp in Rafah's Tel al-Sultan neighborhood on Sunday killed at least 45 displaced Palestinians.
The attack drew widespread condemnation from world leaders and international organizations.
The Israeli attacks on Gaza since October last year have killed more than 36,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
