AhlulBayt News Agency: 70 employees of the Palestinian Civil Defense Directorate have been killed while carrying out their humanitarian work across the Gaza Strip since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on October 7th last year.
The Civil Defense Directorate said in a press statement on Tuesday that the officer at the Al-Tufah Civil Defense Center, First Lieutenant Bahjat Al-Jammal, was martyred after a brutal Israeli bombardment, bringing the number of martyrs from the humanitarian response crews to 70.
Since last October 7th, the Israeli occupation army has deliberately bombed and targeted civil defense, ambulance and emergency services in Gaza, putting them out of service, despite the fact that they were already dilapidated due to the 18-year-long blockade.
In addition to the dozens of workers in these agencies being martyred due to air strikes, artillery shelling, and targeted attacks throughout the war period, hundreds have been injured and dozens arrested while carrying out their work.
The Israeli war on Gaza continues for the 235th day amid intense bombardment across the Strip, including the city of Rafah, which witnessed a horrific massacre against the displaced, at a time when the humanitarian and health situation is deteriorating significantly.
The war on Gaza has left more than 117,000 Palestinians between martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than ten thousand missing amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
