Large number of Quranic verses about Jews

There are many verses in the Holy Quran about Jews who lived during the lifetime of Moses (AS) and those living during the early years after the advent of Islam.

AhlulBayt News Agency: There are many verses in the Holy Quran about Jews who lived during the lifetime of Moses (AS) and those living during the early years after the advent of Islam.

This has a hidden Hikmat (wisdom) that can continue until the contemporary era.

Many verses in the Quran speak about the story of Bani Isra’il, what they did during the prophethood of Moses (AS) and afterwards, and their behaviors and conducts in history, even at the time of the revelation of the Quran in Medina.

This large number of verses should make Muslims sensitive to the issue. They should wonder why God has referred to Jews and their conduct more than other nations as an example and a lesson for all peoples.

How did Jews act that there are so many admonitions about them? And most importantly, what has been the origin and root cause of what the Bani Israi’l did? Are these verses of the Quran only about Jews living in the early years after the advent of Islam or are they also about the future and can apply to contemporary Zionism as well?

One point may be the fact that the fate of the Bani Isra’il has many similarities to that of Muslims. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has been quoted as saying that “My Ummah will adopt the Sunnah of the Bani Isra’il, follow in their footsteps, and act like them so much so that if they enter a hole, these will also follow them into that hole.”

Another point can be found by reviewing the events that took place between the Jews and the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

There are two stances in the Quran regarding Jews, considering some of them to be people of faith and good deeds and a second group to be ones who breach their promises.

According to the Quran, the second group have the highest degree of animosity against Muslims: “You will find that the most people in enmity to the believers are the Jews and idolaters.” (Verse 82 of Surah Al-Ma’idah)

The Jews’ enmity toward Muslims did not decrease after the Holy Prophet (PBUH) but it even intensified, with many of the conspiracies and harms that befell on Muslims coming from Jews. The Quran says: “Whatever has been revealed to you (Muhammad) from your Lord will only increase their disbelief and rebellion (against you).” (Verse 68 of Surah Al-Ma’idah)

In the contemporary world, too, the Zionists have shown intense animosity against Islam and Muslims in various ways, which necessitates efforts by Muslims to know them and ways to confront their threat. And it would be best to know this enemy from the viewpoint of the teachings of the Quran and Islam.
