Pakistani cleric remembers late Iranian President’s defence of Quran at UN

A Pakistani cleric pointed to late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s defense of the Holy Quran at the UN and described it as exemplary in defending Islamic sanctities.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A Pakistani cleric pointed to late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s defense of the Holy Quran at the UN and described it as exemplary in defending Islamic sanctities.

Mawlana Ameer Hamza, leader of the Tehreek Defense of Prophethood made the remark while addressing a memorial service held in Lahore for Raisi and his companions who were martyred in a recent helicopter crash in northwest Iran.

He said that at a time when world powers allowed many to desecrate the Quran and burn copies of it in the West, the late Iranian president raised a copy of the Quran at the UN General Assembly and reiterated that the Holy Book makes civilizations and can never be destroyed.

By defending Islamic sanctities at the UN, President Raisi became a role model for the world’s Muslims on how to defend one’s rights in the face of enemies and arrogant powers, Hamza said.

He added the late Iranian president acted upon Quranic verses, including those about Muslim unity and defending the world’s oppressed.

At a time when the enemies were trying to provoke tensions between Iran and Pakistan, President Raisi made a historic trip to Islamabad and foiled the enemy plots, he further said.

A helicopter carrying President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, Friday prayers leader of Tabriz Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, Governor of East Azarbaijan Malek Rahmati, the commander of the president’s security team, two pilots and a flight crew crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan on May 19, 2024. Their bodies were found a day later after an extensive night-long search operation.

Iran observed five days of national mourning with funeral processions held for the victims in multiple cities earlier this week.
