AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahrain’s top Shia cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim said the martyrdom of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi demonstrated his dignity to the world.
He made the remark in an interview with Khamenei.ir on the sidelines of a memorial service held at the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) in Qom earlier this week.
“God, the Almighty, wanted to show his (Raisi’s) dignity to the whole world,” he said.
The prominence of some great figures, especially those who have faith and sincerity, a heart linked to God and a spirit attracted to God, gives them a special attractiveness, the senior cleric stated.
He said the Iranian president and the foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who were martyred in a helicopter crash on May 19, are among the figures whose character attracts people.
A helicopter carrying President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, Friday prayers leader of Tabriz Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, Governor of East Azarbaijan Malek Rahmati, the commander of the president’s security team, two pilots and a flight crew crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan on May 19, 2024. Their bodies were found on Monday after an extensive night-long search operation.
Iran observed five days of national mourning this week with funeral processions for the victims held in multiple cities.
President Raisi was laid to rest at Imam Reza (AS) shrine in Mashhad and Amir-Abdollahian was buried at the holy mausoleum of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) in Rey, south of Tehran, marking the end of days of funeral processions attended by millions of Iranians in several cities.
