AhlulBayt News Agency: A video has surfaced on social media showing an Israeli soldier, reportedly a member of the Givati Brigade, desecrating the Muslim holy book, the Quran, inside a damaged mosque in the Gaza Strip.
The soldier is seen throwing pages of the Quran into a fire. Israeli media outlets, citing military sources, confirmed on Thursday that the soldier had shared the footage on his Instagram account.
This incident is not the first of its kind. In March, social media was flooded with videos showing a soldier tearing apart a copy of the Quran in a Gaza mosque.
Reports suggest that Israeli soldiers have been involved in numerous acts of sacrilege against Islamic sanctities since early October, when they began their brutal aggression on Gaza which has killed more than 35,000 people up to now.
The destruction of religious sites has also been a concern. More than 220 mosques have been destroyed and at least 280 have been damaged across the Gaza Strip. Many of these mosques hold historical significance and are among the oldest in the region.
Previous incidents involving Israeli soldiers, such as videos of soldiers assaulting or undressing Palestinian prisoners, graffiti on Gaza buildings, and confiscation of civilian property, have been highlighted by international organizations.
