AhlulBayt News Agency: The Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine; His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, received a group of political prisoners who accompanied him in the prisons of the Baathist regime, in the special section of Abu Ghraib prison during the Eighties of the last century, at his office at the Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine on Friday 17/ 05/ 2024. His Eminence was informed about the conditions of those present and inspected those absent from them, and also prayed for the martyrs and the deceased among them.
His Eminence recalled some of the lessons that a believing person benefits from the experience of prison, where he said: "prison may be a mercy and blessing from Allah on a believing person, where he is free to communicate with Allah Almighty, and he will be safe from the worldly temptations..."
For his part, a former political prisoner and a member of the delegation, Mr. Maher al-Hasani, said, "today we conducted a visit to Sayed Ahmad al-Safi at his invitation, where a group of those who accompanied him during the days of imprisonment under the former regime attended."
"The visit comes to remind us not to forget that tragic era, and to tell what we witnessed of injustice and persecution, and what the prisoners were subjected to by the Baathists to future generations, so as not to allow the dictatorship to return again,"he added.
Al-Hasani continued that " Sayed al-Safi pointed out the need to supplement the (Encyclopedia of political prisoners) authored by the al-Wafi foundation for documentation and studies at the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine, with what we have witnessed and heard of heroic stories and positions, and the sacrifices of those who were martyred in this way," pointing out that His Eminence "stressed the importance of communication between segments that were subjected to injustice by the former regime."
